CHURCHILL WAR ROOMS ENIGMA II PRESENTATION

Autumn/Winter 2016 collection, ENIGMA II, was presented at the Churchill War Rooms in the heart of London’s Westminster. ENIGMA II draws inspiration from espionage during the Second World War and nods to the elegance and resilience of that time, celebrating the creativity and inventiveness of this period in history.

Each piece in the collection speaks of strength and femininity and is named after a woman involved in breaking the German Enigma code, paying homage to the heroic women who contributed to making Great Britain, truly great. Therefore, the Churchill War Rooms at Imperial War Museum acted as the perfect venue to host this debut presentation from the exciting young designer. The first time a London Fashion Week event has ever been hosted in the Churchill War Rooms, it was the ideal pairing – and a ‘fashion first’ for all involved.

Deep in the underground bunker lined with the Union flag and alive with the atmosphere of the 1940s, the collection was presented with a series of sophisticated models taking their place within glass cabinets, interacting with soldiers in the corridors, or consulting maps in the map room.
And once the presentation came to a close, the party began, with live band the Dixie Ticklers keeping the stylish crowd swinging to a set of hot jazz, followed by a DJ set courteous of Zara Martin. Guests partied late into the night with Alexandra Long’s signature #IndomitableElegance
